Three steps to read any gyro ring disc
■ Inner  ·  slit  ·  ■ Outer

Live demo — 19 sec  ·  Download video

01
Frame the disc

Open the scanner and point the camera at the disc from directly above. The horizontal slit should cross all eight rings.

Drag the ■ Inner handle to the inner edge of the rings, and the ■ Outer handle to the outer edge. Tap ⊙ to freeze the image when the disc is steady.

Inner Outer
Tip: You can also adjust the handles after you freeze — so don't worry if the disc shifts slightly when you tap ⊙.
02
Align the handles

Once frozen, drag the ■ Inner handle so it sits exactly at the inner boundary of the first ring, and the ■ Outer handle at the outer boundary of the last ring.

Watch the zoomed strip and the 8 cells below — the decimal value updates in real time as you adjust.

Inner Outer ZOOMED inner → outer 0 1 0 1 0 1 0 0 inner → outer 00101010 42
Tip: The value updates live — drag slowly and watch the number settle. If it looks wrong, check that the ■ Inner line is at the inner edge of ring 1, not inside the centre hole.
03
Use in Calculator

The decimal value is shown live at the bottom of the screen. Once you're happy it's correct, tap Show in Calculator to open the ring calculator with the value pre-loaded — ready to add a second or third disc.
